Hi. I’m still trying to figure out Relayer. So far it works great for sending audio and regular midi. The one thing that I’m trying to do is have it send a transport control to Reaper to stop and start a project. Has anyone managed to do this? Can you explain it to me like I’m 5? I can get GP to send all sorts of CC and note data, but for some reason it doesn’t appear to be sending transport commands (I’d love to be able to use the GP transport control as a master button). I’ve searched YT and this forum, but haven’t found anything yet.
Since GP Relayer is a plugin, I don’t think the messages get received on the level they’d need to in order to assign to transport controls. It works fine for track data.
You can use OSC for such a thing however.
Set up widgets and use Direct Addressable OSC to trigger the transport controls in Reaper.
Here are the addresses for some transport controls in Reaper
/record
/stop
/play
/pause
No (I always hated that meme)
Think about it – GP Relayer is a plugin - it receives MIDI messages from other plugins on one side (e.g, GP) and sends those messages to plugins inside another host. So you’re sending messages to plugins, you are not sending them to the host (Reaper, for example) so that’s why commands like Transport won’t work.
Duh. That makes sense. Thank you.
Thanks for this. I’ll definitely investigate it, because it looks like a good way forward.
