I have searched and read through previous posts on the topic but haven’t found anything that’s current. I wonder if users can talk about their experience with Komplete Kontrol and the S49 MKII or similar hardware. I would like to use the S49 connected to GP so I can use it’s built in controllers and browser features. But as I understand it there may be some difficulty in having the S49 correctly focus and pickup the current setting s for a specific instance. In the example of a DAW where you are most likely to have a single Kontrol instance limited to a track , that limitation doesn’t apply to GP as you could have multiple Kontrol instances per rack. Is the issue only limited to this use case in GP where the S49 controller cannot easily ‘find’ or ‘sync’ the settings for a specific instance in the same rack ?
Is the work around to limit my use of Kontrol instances to one per rack ? for me that’s actually not a problem and a constraint I can work with.
Good morning, its a Monday and the past Friday I picked up a used S49 Mk2 from a local seller for $220 Canadian, had a gig the following day, and although I don’t play keyboards in the band, I brought it down to just maybe add a fizzle here or sustained pad there, I play guitar with GP5 and I have plenty of keyboard chops and experience although I typically only ever play guitar and harmonica in the cover band, so yeah I eager to here how you have developed your approach with the S49 MKII, I’m just geting into the frothy milk and have yet to reach that rich bold flavour underneath, the aroma is enticing.
What I’ve heard is that many use the Komplete Kontrol approach for sound mining, desing perhaps and then just use the midi facility with GP5 when it comes to playing live.
I have a variety of Laptops, mostly Mac and some Windows, live usually Mac at home sometimes Windows, I’ve had more luck wading through the Apple OS so far, it’s only been a few days, I have a 2023 MBP with quite a few sound librairies on it and can get around navigating lots of libraries with Komplete Kontrol, however of course I’d rather develop a solid GP5 rig and wonder what that looks like succesfully for you now that it’s been a few months since you posted this… ?
post edit: one MBP for GP5 guitar and a second MBP for the Komplete Kontrol, so really two rigs, only one audio interface at the moment.. lots of spare inputs on the band mixer platform so I just ran the external headphones of the MBP hosting KK into the band mixer which was a decent setup, although far from a well designed GP5 gig.
