Change default Audio Out to UMC1820

Task 1: Success:
I created UMC1820 in AudioMIDIStudio and got great quad-speaker output.

Task2: GP-5 Failure:
Setup new GP-5 Gig and failed to replace default Audio Out device in Wiring.
Reloaded GP-5, Tried global and normal rackspace.Default (Mac Studio Out) stuck!
I spent days browsing lots of similar situations - Just missed a needle in the haystack!
Any tip appreciated.

You have to use the audio options in options window.
Here you choose your audio in and audio out

I did that

Can you post a screenshot of the audio options window and the wiring view?
In wiring view you cannot change the audio device, you can only use the one which is activated in the audio options window

I also did each step including this last step under Options>

To set up a surround (multichannel) speaker configuration, click Configure Speakers, then set up the configuration.

I tested each speaker audio-output in my large room. WOW, perfect dispersion/SPL.
Went thru this form each time I tried a new Gig.
I saw the list of devices and only the UMC1820 had the 8 mono output channels I needed.

Cheers!

Is it working now?

Seems wierd since I didn’t change anything.
I just rebooted for another reason – Which i had done yesterday a few times to debug this event.
