Just curious what your various opinions are on the best / most efficient and sturdy pedal / external unit for switching patches in setlist mode in GP?
I expect you will get loads of replies. Here’s mine.
I use this Boss one. Each switch is programmable. I have up and down programmed, plus the third is for Leslie speed.
This is a pedal i use for… various stuff. You can configure it as needed.
It’s not too big, it’s sturdy (all metal), it works bidirectionally with GP-widgets and it has additional jacks for volume pedals and such…
This seems to be interesting.
Do you have to use a midi interface or can you just use the bluetooth features?
I just use it via Bluetooth. It’s been 100% rock solid with GP since i got it.
I go this over the other type with the round foot switches as i prefer the flat switches.
Forgot to add, i also use the 3rd switch for sustain when using piano. It’s not ideal, but it works well enough for me.
My concern is that using Bluetooth will cause the batteries to run out quickly, and this could happen in the middle of a concert and compromise my work (quickly changing songs/parts).
My concerts last, on average, 4 hours.
What is the average battery life?
Is there any kind of early warning that the batteries are running out?
I put fresh rechargeable’s in before each gig, but only as a precaution. Ive never had any issue with setting up at 6pm and finishing gone midnight with the pedal on all the time, then a rehearsal or two later on.
Manual says up to 14 hours, although you can use a PSU as well. Im pretty sure the LED starts to flash when power is low, but ive only seen this once as far as I can recall.
I do have buttons programmed on my controller to also change songs/parts, just in case.
EDIT: Just found this in the menu.
This indicator lights when the [POWER] switch is turned on.
2 POWER indicator
Lit green There is sufficient battery power.
Lit red The battery will be depleted in an hour.
I wonder how much longer you would get if the battery didn’t have to keep an LED lit😜

Where to get these switch tops?
What switch tops?
I got it sorted with some round plastic switch tops for my pedal board fx. Cheers
Forgot to add, I have a USB to PSU plug cable that I keep handy in case the battery does go. I have a power extension down on the floor close by that has USB C ports that ti can plug in to.
Never needed it so far.
I recently picked up a Nektar Pacer and am happy with it so far. Very solid build, super flexible if you’re willing to dive into its complexities but one of the presets is geared for keyboardists so I was up and running out of the box. I have the left front pedal set to sustain (provided by that preset) and mapped Gig Performer to learn the next four as “previous song,” “next song,” “previous song part,” and “next song part,” respectively.
My current keyboard controller doesn’t have many aux ports and the Pacer really shines there - you can connect up to 2 expression pedals, 4 foot switches, and 4 relays (for non-MIDI stuff). Also, my laptop doesn’t have a spare USB port so I use the Pacer’s 5-pin MIDI out to connect it to my USB audio interface. Might be overkill for some folks but it’s been solid for me so far.
