5 Instances

Let me know if this is possible. I have created 3 instances that work in my setup but I now want to try to expand and create 5 instances that will share the workload of utilizing multiple orchestral sample libraries in a live Show. My idea is to have one instance for different groups of orchestral instruments.

Starting with the strings:

the 1st (main) instance for Low Strings ie…Basses and Cellos with all specific splits/transpositions/layers.

2nd instance High Strings ie..Violas and Violins with all specific splits/transpositions/layers.

3rd Instance Low Brass ie..Trombones, (Bari Sax, Tenor, Alto) with all specific splits/transpositions/layers.

4th Instance High Brass ie.. F Horns and Trumpets with all specific splits/transpositions/layers.

5th Instance ie..all Woodwinds ie Piccolo, Flutes, Oboes, Clarinets, Bassoons etc. with all specific splits/transpositions/layers.

Again, this is for live Shows so the goal is to get it all on 1 Keyboard. Any thoughts appreciated.

Well, you already got to three… what’s keeping you from adding the extra 2?

Thanks for chiming in. The question is if there is CPU drainage for the amount of Instances I want to use? Or if it is unlimited to the number of instances I use? In other words I can use 3 instances or 10 instances and it won’t matter, if that makes sense?

Actually, there are usually benefits as different instances can often run on different cores.

As for what will actually happen - that depends on your computer, speed, RAM, etc.

You have to just try it.

What’s your CPU load when you put it all in the Main instance?

I regularly use 7-8 instances on stage without any issue. As long as you have some way to trigger your patch changes to all of the instances, and your machine can handle the load you’re aiming to throw at it, you should be able to run additional instances without issue.
